PCCW's Now Broadband TV: an IPTV case study

PCCW, which wound up the video-on-demand service it inherited from Hong Kong Telecom when it took over the incumbent operator in 2000, launched a pay TV service called Now Broadband TV in September 2003 using its ADSL network. The world s first IPTV service, Now TV has since signed up more than 600,000 subscribers, surprising many with its success. Kevin Lee examines the factors that have contributed to this success and the challenges the service still faces.
